I write weekly at Useful Fictions, where I spend most of my time talking about agency — which I think about as the entirely learnable capacity to both see and act on all of the degrees of freedom that life offers. I'm writing a book on agency, You Can Just Do Things, with my husband Sasha (out June 2 via Harper Business), and did a TED talk on the same subject. You can leave me anonymous feedback here.
In past lives, I've been a Supreme Court lawyer, the no. 1 female poker player in the world, a drug addict, a biotech founder, and a private foundation CEO (in that order). I think a lot about the future and humans' place in it.
